The Minnesota District Export Council and the U.S. Commercial Service organize a quarterly networking cocktail for people interested in international business.  Come join us for an appetizer buffet and beverages (2 free)!

Guest Speaker and Topic:

Michael Masserman
Executive Director for Export Policy, Promotion and Strategy
International Trade Administration/U.S. Department of Commerce, Washington D.C.

Michael Masserman was recently appointed Executive Director for Export Policy, Promotion, and Strategy at the U.S. Department of Commerce.  He is in charge of operationalizing the President's National Export Initiative (NEI). The NEI is an initiative that President Obama laid out in his 2010 State of the Union to double exports by the end of 2014. In this role, Michael also oversees the Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee, which is made up of the relevant trade agencies within the U.S. Government. Read Michael's bio here

With the recently announced MSP Metro Export Initiative whithe focuses on doubling MN exports by 2017, integrating efforts with local, state and federal resources is a vital component to achieve this ambition goal.  Michael coordinates closely with private-sector companies, trade associations, chambers of commerce, and institutions such as Brookings, on global trade/export policies and therefore will be a key component at the national level to support the local efforts in our region.
