Addititional Import Restrictions in Effect in Argentina |
All exporters to Argentina need to be aware that beginning on February 1, 2012, all individuals or companies who plan to import merchandise into Argentina must fill out a Sworn Affidavit of Intention to Import (DJAI) with the Argentine Revenue and Customs Authority (AFIP) prior to completing a purchase order for the goods to be imported. Most companies and individuals who import goods utilize the services of an Argentine Customs Broker and should have their customs broker make file the DJAI through the online Custom's system known as MARIA. In the case of importers who do not utilize a Customs Broker, they already access to the MARIA system and will file their own DJAIs. With many consumer goods coming from China, sometimes we wonder if anything is made in the US anymore. But in fact, the United States exports nearly $1 trillion worth of goods every year. As Europe struggles with sovereign debt and austerity measures will the global economic climate put a damper on our exports? How will this affect our region? KSMQ Public Television, which serves southern Minnesota and northern Iowa, featured exporting on its show "The Heart of the Matter." This episode, "How Does Our Region Fit Into the Global Economy?" discusses these issues, local MN companies and the effect of exporting on our economy. You can view the show on YouTube here. |

APBO 2012 |
Organized by the University of Southern California, with the full support of the U.S. Commercial Service, the Asia/Pacific Business Outlook conference is the longest running, most successful regional conference focused specifically on Asian markets. Over 60 seminars will be offered during the two days, and participants can meet and network with business leaders from 17 economies. Last year there were over 350 participants from 31 states across the United States. Added to this year's program is a special focus on the BRIC economies. By 2050 the combined economies of Brazil, Russia, India and China could eclipse the combined economies of today's richest countries. At APBO, U.S. companies can learn first-hand about these important markets in their business strategies. There are clear opportunities for U.S. exporters seeking new sales opportunities and markets in the Asia/Pacific region- and beyond.
APBO also provides the rare opportunity for exporters and trade industry leaders to meet seventeen U.S. Senior Commercial Officers (SCOs) from the Asia/Pacific region, plus Brazil, India, Mexico and Russia at one venue. They will present country outlooks, speak in small workshops, meet with companies in private, one-on-one consultations, advise on current challenges and opportunities, and identify new business to increase international sales.
